Afrojack's first big release of the year is Bridge, with Bobby Burns. I really like this track, because I was starting to get sick of Afrojack's Clap 'n' Bass style, which he was using on every track he played. Despite saying that, the music he produces is usually quite good.
The problem with artists that get popular is that all of a sudden people will start layering every track they make with compliments, simply because so-and-so was on the track, even if the track was average at best. Instead of judging each individual track on its merits, people will judge a track based on the fact that Afrojack produced it.
While I realise that its natural to have certain expectations from artists we like, it's a shame that too often hits are made simply because of the name of the artist, rather than the song itself. In many ways it's the same with a designer brand; even though you might really like a brand, doesn't mean you have to support every piece of apparel they produce, because undoubtedly some of them will be rubbish.
Anyways, no Clap 'n' Bass on this one, and no vocals either, just 7 minutes of good sound. Enjoy.

Hard Rock Sofa - Blow Up! on Axtone Records
Hard Rock Sofa are one of the biggest names in house in Russia. HRS have got a lot of support from the biggest names in the business, and their music has been played by everyone from Pete Tong to Tiesto to Danny Tenaglia. A few weeks ago on WYLSS, we announced that HRS were going to release a new single, off of Axwell's Axtone records. Well here it is and it was worth the wait. The two official remixes are better than the original but that's just our opinion. Check 'em out.

Defected - In Their House
Defected In The House is presenting a new monthly mix series (which has actually been going on for a couple of months now), which goes in depth with prominent DJs, presenting a interview and set of the music. The series is aptly called 'In Their House'. The best thing about it is that it isn't all about the celebrity-DJs that you see all over the place, instead it's about those hard-working DJs that either aren't interested in the global scene, or just haven't had their big break yet. In many ways the series is a breath of fresh air, offering different musical styles from less traditional sources.
"Launching the series is Melbourne-based DJ and producer Nathan G. Nathan has been instrumental in putting the Australian house music scene on the global map and has made waves recently with a string of high-quality productions and remixes. With releases on labels such as Salted Music and Om, Nathan recently launched his own Luvbug imprint, and his track ’88 Keys To Love’ from the Melbourne Shuffle EP hit No.1 spot on the Traxsource download chart, catching the attention of all the right people on the way there.
Nathan G is a fast-rising talent, and it is with pleasure that we present him as the first DJ in the In Their House series."
"The second instalment is brought to you by Londoner Maya Jane Coles. Maya has had a number of fingers in a few differently flavoured musical pies for some time now, but she recently made her biggest splash on the house world with her ‘What They Say’ EP, the title track from which charted at numbers one and two respectively in Resident Advisors top charted tracks for October and November.
With the year almost done, it looks as if 2011 will be the strongest year yet for the young DJ and producer, and it is with pleasure that we present the following mix for your aural engagement."
"If you've ever wandered happily across the legendary Pacha Terraza, chances are you've grooved to the sounds of a certain multi-talented DJ without ever knowing who it was. During the summer months, Cristian Doros aka Mr Doris holds down residencies at two of the biggest clubs on the planet; Space (for Carl Cox, Come Together & We Love...) and Pacha, while over the winter period he holds down a coveted residency for London based Soundcrash (alongside DJ Vadim & Mr Thing). Here, he heads up the third edition of the ‘In Their House’ series.
Receiving praise from a diverse range of musical maestros such as Carl Cox, Mayer Hawthorne, Dimitri From Paris, Carl Craig, Guru, Gilles Peterson, Jurassic5, Roni Size & DJ Kentaro to name just a few, his highly eclectic mix demonstrates why the above mentioned artists hold him in such high regard."
If you're interested in the interviews or the tracklists, drop a comment and I'll make sure they're posted.
