Check This Out - One Man Ben and Gorillas On Drums

This weekend has been about relaxing in bed and not doing anything worthwhile, something I will probably regret come Monday morning and lectures. Having said that, the few moments I have been active have been about discovering new music, which is always a worthwhile pursuit in my opinion. So what have we got?
One Man Ben. I'd never heard of him before he sent me a message telling me to check out his music, and I'm pretty glad he did. He is part of a group called Gorillas On Drums, and an EP is due out soon. They produces electro-house and dubstep combinations, which he simply classifies as Electronic, but don't let the label fool you, because it's much more sophisticated than that. Check it out:
This track is probably my favourite, because it's so good and yet so different from other stuff I've heard lately:

More from them coming soon!

Creativity & Dubstep

You might be wondering why a blog primarily directed to house music has a video with a bank advert posted. If you thought we're sell-outs, then you're wrong, (you'll notice there are no ads on this blog). The fact is you need to listen to the song in that advert. And then, listen to this:

Stanton Warriors

Stanton Warriors have been around for so long that sometimes they get forgotten in the midst of all the new and up 'n' coming artists. It's kinda difficult to classify Stanton Warriors under one genre. They started off in garage and breakbeat, but their style encompasses everything from that to electro house to funk. This is from the bio on their page: "Stanton DJ sets are famed for incorporating exclusive original tracks mixed with homemade edits / remixes of cutting edge sounds from underground house through to abstract hip hop and everything in between. It’s all blended into a melting pot of low down booty electro punkishness, and is continually reminding the world why Stanton Warriors have remained unrivalled in their genre for more than a decade."
The most awesome thing about Stanton Warriors is that they're not sell-outs. You feel that they make music for the sake of making music, not for furthering their name or label. It is that ideology that has garnered them massive, almost cult-like, support from around the globe. Even though they've been around for so long, compared to the current crop of artists, Stanton Warriors are a breath of fresh air.

To showcase the musical versatility of Stanton Warriors, I've thrown in a bit of everything; whatever your style, you're sure to find something here.

Zedd

Zedd is from Germany. He produces electro house. He's pretty damn good. That's all I know. Enjoy.

Diddy tracks have been doing the rounds lately because of his new album Last Train To Paris. I haven't listened to the album, and I probably won't, but, like many out there, I feel that Diddy should only be on the track in a producing sense, not a vocal one. Zedd remixes 'Ass On The Floor', and because of the bassline, Diddy's vocals provide a nice contrast for once.

Zedd's production dabbles into the dark arts of dubstep, and you can tell with the heavier beats and the thick basslines on his tracks. Check these two remixes of Skrillex tracks:

I have to say that I haven't jumped on to the bandwagon that's in love with new hip-hop artist B.o.B. If all his tracks sounded like this, I might just jump on though.

Finally, we have to finish things off with the legendary Fatboy Slim. By the way, if you haven't seen the video for the original version of this track, go do that right now!

This Sound Is FAR TOO LOUD!

Far Too Loud is another electro house act based in Brighton. A.k.a. Oliver Cash, this music is electro house at its finest. Far Too Loud started off in breakbeat, and you can still see the elements of that in his current production. Far Too Loud has been gaining a lot of recognition over the past few years for his work, and if you're not acquainted with it, now is your chance. Enjoy, and don't forget to to crank up your speakers FAR TOO LOUD so that you can experience the sound of the dirty basslines that have come to define his work.

Mylo

Scottish electronic music maestro Mylo will forever be associated with 'Drop The Pressure', the track that catapulted him to the world stage. While it was a huge release for him, nothing since has come relatively close, and so in retrospect it must have been a bit of a bittersweet moment for him. Mylo still makes great music though. the reason I randomly decided to blog about Mylo is that I saw this track a couple days ago, which is IMMENSE:   CUT COPY - Take Me Over (Mylo remix) by label Barclay

Here are a few other tracks by Mylo, that aren't particularly new, but are still worth a listen:
Robyn - Don't Fucking Tell Me What To Do (Mylo & Sharooz Mix)
Moby - Lift Me Up (Mylo Remix)
Mylo - Macrobiotic

Adam K - Don't Kick My Bag Bitch

Adam K, one of the freshest producers out of Canada is back at it again with a track titled 'Daun't Kick My Bag Bitch'. (Don't know why it's spelled that way, I'm just assuming it has to do with Canadian phonetics.) He says this about the track: "can't wait till you al hear the story behind this. anyways this is sort of a deadmau5 type tune. well more than sort". The track really does have that Deadmau5 vibe to it, but in my opinion there's something about this that's makes it slightly better.
